Eddie Jones, England’s head coach certainly has a lot to smile about. With 10 players unavailable through injury, Jones had to select six uncapped players for the squad. As Jones explained during training… “With a number of influential players missing through injury we have two weeks to prepare a robust and resilient team to meet the challenges set for us in the Old Mutual Wealth Series”… but, oh my word what a surprising but wonderful result? Clearly Eddie and the Squad have pulled out all the stops and succeeded beyond all expectations, in spite of a mountainous challenge before them. They absolutely deserve our thanks and our admiration!
What a cracking November we’ve had for England Rugby this year. The England team certainly deserve some respect for what they’ve achieved at this years Old Mutual Wealth Series. They played four matches, pitted against four giants of the arena – South Africa, Fiji, Argentina and Australia – and they came away with some really rather impressive results I’m sure you’ll agree…
SATURDAY 12th NOVEMBER: ENGLAND 37 – 21 SOUTH AFRICA
SATURDAY 19th NOVEMBER: ENGLAND 58 – 15 FIJI
SATURDAY 26th NOVEMBER: ENGLAND 27 – 14 ARGENTINA
SATURDAY 3rd DECEMBER: ENGLAND 37 – 21 AUSTRALIA
Needless to say, the crowds a Twickenham were brimming over with enthusiasm and excitement and the celebratory mood just exploded after every match and got more electric with each successive victory. Our bands and crews were there to entertain the crowds and join in with the fun as usual and the feedback was that they’d never seen anything like it. Here’s a snap shot taken from the stage in the Fan Village area (West Car Park), post-match. If you didn’t know it was Twickenham, you might be forgiven for thinking this was taken at a major festival.
Here’s are just some of the amazing bands we had performing at Twickenham for the Old Mutual this year folks…
