Biography
Down Stroke is a new collective of players, coming together to produce an up tempo set of Dance, R’n’b and Urban Soul. Drawing from the songbooks of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Destiny’s Child, Misteeq and Blue as well as classic artists such as Luther Vandross , Micheal Jackson and Whitney Houston. Down Stroke also has a wide repertoire of cool RnB favourites from artistes such as Eric Benet, Angie Stone, Alicia Keys, Omar and Prince.
The 8 piece band is fronted by some of the finest soul/gospel voices you will hear this side of the Atlantic and this incredible vocal team are really put through their paces in the sets. The choice of material, combined with the band’s feel and energy make their performance one of richness and colour.
Little wonder then that you may have seen all of the members of Down Stroke playing alongside established artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Eternal, Ruby Turner, Lionel Richie, Ricky Martin, Take 6, Misteeq, Darius, Liberty X, A1, Beverley Knight, The Suga Babes, Jaki Graham and Mica Paris.
It is a rare treat to see a band on the commercial circuit in this country, performing this kind of gospel infused Soul and RnB and rarer still to see it executed with such taste and discipline. So if you want to take in some smooth grooves or dance till you drop, this is the band to catch!
